Questions we get asked
The flavours are blended and bottled in New Zealand. Basedrop is operated by Kiwi Pak Limited, based in Hastings, Hawke's Bay.
The flavour concentrates we build them from are imported from our flavour partners overseas. Every bottle we fill carries a batch number and we hold the ingredient records against it, so a bottle can be traced back to exactly what went into it if there is ever a recall.
The Carousel range is made by Carousel Confectionery, a family-owned Palmerston North maker.
Fanboys is our own lolly brand, made for us in New Zealand and coming soon. A free Fanboys sample goes in every order, and we want to know whether you like them harder or softer.
Kiwi Pak Limited is a registered food business under the Food Act 2014. We are registered under a National Programme with the Hastings District Council, and our verification is carried out by AsureQuality, which is a recognised verification agency.

That is the whole list. For food use only. The bottle is the authority on its own contents, so read the label before you use it.
Strength, and how you measure it.
A Flavour Drop is concentrated. One drop per 150 ml is the direction on the bottle, so a 330 ml can takes two.
A Premixed Flavour is diluted with vegetable glycerine, so it is measured by the spoon rather than the drop. The glycerine carries a little sweetness of its own and gives a mouthfeel closer to sugar, so a premix sits into a batch rather than on top of it. That makes it the easier one to scale up for baking and confectionery.
No sugar and no added sweetener in either. That is why a drop changes what a drink tastes of without changing how sweet it is.
The premixes carry a slight sweetness from the vegetable glycerine they are diluted with, but glycerine is a carrier rather than a sweetener.
It matters most on an unsweetened base. A caramel flavour in plain soda water smells like butterscotch and tastes like very little, because a butterscotch soda was always a syrup drink. Sweeten the base first, then flavour it.
They are the carriers. Flavour compounds are oily and will not disperse evenly on their own, so they are dissolved into a carrier that mixes cleanly into a drink or a batter.
Both are standard food grade carriers and both are used across the flavour industry. Propylene glycol is thin and carries flavour hard, which is why the drops use it alone. Vegetable glycerine is thicker and slightly sweet, which is what makes a premix spoonable.

Hazelnut is the name of the flavour, not a list of what is in it. The bottle declares Propylene Glycol and Flavours.
If you have a tree nut allergy, contact us before you use it. We would rather confirm it for you in writing, against the flavour house's own declaration, than have you rely on a web page. The same goes for any flavour named after a food you react to.
Into a syrup once it has cooled. Make a simple or rich syrup, let it come to room temperature, then stir the flavour through: heat drives off the brightest part of a flavour. How to make a flavoured syrup has both syrups.
For baking, add it with the wet ingredients, like any other liquid flavouring.
Flavour Drops: start with one drop per 150 ml, which is the direction on the bottle, then taste. A short glass takes one and a full glass takes two or three, so taste between drops.
Premixed Flavours: start with a small spoon in a batch, taste, and build from there.
You can always add more. You cannot take it out.
Cool, dark and sealed. Keep the cap on and keep the bottle out of direct sunlight.
Flavour is volatile. An open bottle left warm on a sunny bench loses its top notes first, which is the part you bought it for.
